Through National Student Exchange, I spent the fall 2015 semester taking special event classes in Las Vegas. This was an incredible experience where I helped plan the largest event of my life so far. For the capstone event class at University of Nevada Las Vegas, I helped plan and implement a charity event for Miracle Flights for Kids. As a class, we organized an evening of entertainment for a good cause. Together we collected donations of food, entertainment, alcohol, decorations, goodie bags and items for the silent auction. Ultimately we raised over $15,000 for Miracle Flights for Kids. The entire semester was spent brainstorming marketing campaigns, creating designs for social media, making tickets and posters, delegating tasks, securing silent auction donations and scouting entertainment. I was responsible for designing posters and collecting $1,000 worth in donations as well as creating the PowerPoint to be played throughout the evening. During the event, I did food preparations and gave out swag bags as well as ran sound and music. This event was impressive in size and inspired me to continue working for good causes in the events industry. It was moving to see some of the children impacted by Miracle Flights at our event, knowing that the $15,000 we worked so hard to raise was saving their lives. I love when events are enjoyable, memorable and impactful. I will never forget my experience at UNLV.
Below are three different versions of the program that I created:
