The summer before my senior year, I went back home to Denver to work at a small business called Wow Events Denver. The CEO also runs a sister company called Latitude Sports Marketing. Together, the companies work to obtain high-end sports memorabilia to consign to charity auctions. The company also has their own live auctioneer who I worked with directly.

Reiman Gardens is a botanical garden in Ames, Iowa which hosts a plethora of events and art in the garden. Planning events which encouraged people to get outside and enjoy nature was an awesome experience. I spent the summer of 2015 as the Event Intern and then returned in January of 2016 to work as the interim event coordinator for five months.

Miracle on Maryland Parkway
Through National Student Exchange, I spent the fall 2015 semester taking special event classes in Las Vegas. This was an incredible opportunity where I helped plan the largest event of my college career. For the capstone event class at University of Nevada Las Vegas, I helped plan and implement a charity event for Miracle Flights for Kids.

Brunnier in Bloom
I was the education and events intern for Iowa State University Museums in the spring of 2015 where I assisted in the planning and implementation of Brunnier in Bloom. Brunnier in Bloom is an annual event that University Museums hosts as a fundraiser for educational resources. The event showcases local florists’ designs which interpret artwork currently on exhibit in the museum.

Backyard Benefit Concert
During the summer of 2014, I planned and hosted a backyard benefit concert at my parents home in Colorado. With the help of my parents, friends and neighbors we provided an evening of food, live music, henna and a raffle. All proceeds went to Homeless Gear (out of Fort Collins, CO). 40+ people were in attendance and we raised $450.

Throughout my life I have been a creative. That is part of what drew me to pursue event management. I was fortunate to have space in my schedule to take 12+ credits of design and art history courses through Iowa State University. I use photoshop often with events and continue to practice fine art as a hobby – finding so many parallels between artwork and event planning in my life.
